Main differences between MEP Plus/Premium and VPX are that VPX has: 4 measuring instruments more mutil-cam tracks multi-language capability, more small features all over the place 2 monitors - source and preview project folder under Burning, can export to PSD file and edit in Xara or Photoshop and send back 3 colour correction wheels - lows, mids, highs modifiable brightness/contrast graph, with RGB LUTs import and probably some that I missed.Īs for the future of Vegas, I think that it is quite secure with Magix. They have of course PiP, chromakeying, keyframing, and much more. No reply.Ī few of things that Vegas Pro has that MEP and VPX don't: scripting compositing. I asked for details, including which region, NTSC or PAL and did he export to the wrong format. Why? The guy made a video, burned it to a DVD, tried it in his DVD player, player said it was the wrong format, conclusion, MEP must be crap. There is a good one that says MEP is crap. You may also want to review comments on the site. Magix is also very good about update/upgrade pricing.

I have used it, not because I had problems, but because I saw that they had something better, and in another case I somehow purchased (my mistake) a basic and a Plus version.

To fully and properly test it, you need to buy it, download and install the extra content, and activate the codecs. The Moderator of the English forum communicates with the German Moderator, who also watches the English forum and sometimes helps out. They also meet with Magix once or twice per year. There is a strong user group in Germany that keeps Magix in line. Sometimes there are clashes with hardware and other software, especially Windows changes, but any major problems are usually quickly sorted out. I don't recall seeing this problem on the forum, but maybe I missed it.

Not many other nle's have the same excellent tools that integrate with the nle like Magix has.ĭid you down and install the patch? The link is under Help, Update online. Magix has several programs that go well with MEP, including MusicMaker, Audio and Music Lab Premium for high-level cleaning and mastering audio, Xara for animated graphics and animated masks (works from MEP and advances video background as you create graphics or masks), and Samplitude Pro. It probably has a few features that Vegas Pro does not, but Vegas Pro has many advanced features that VPX does not have.

Don't even bother with the basic version. If you go for MEP, get at least the Plus version, better with the Premium if you like the additional third party addons. From what I have seen, it is much more straight forward than Vegas. You don't get all of the goodies but you get a good idea of the look and feel of it. I may be quite late getting in here, you can download and try out any of the Magix products before buying. Thoughts?īTW - I own copies of Pinnacle Studio 19 (and about 8 others) as well as the last version of Avid Liquid and even an older version of the MAGIX video product (don't remember the name). I'm sure I'm not the only one considering other products. My preliminary assessment of MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium looks promising. Therefore, I am mostly using it for Home videos which is why I can't justify spending more than $200. Many are happy with someone taking a shaky video with their cell phone.

They don't seem to care about professional covers and labels and multi-cam videos. She said she thinks she has a nephew that can do it. Last month I offered to do a wedding video for about 1/3 of what it's worth and half of what I normally would charge and she seemed surprised. Now the world has changed and people don't want to pay anything for a professional videographer. I know at least one of you will say, "It depends on what you're using it for." We started a video business in 2001 and did hundreds of video projects. If they offered it for $199 I would be getting out my debit card RIGHT NOW!

I am interested in the SVP 14 upgrade but not willing to pay another $349 for the Suite. Most of these crashes seem to be related to NewBlue products such as the Titler. I have been using SVP since version 8 and while I love just about everything about it, I don't like all of the crashes. Do you have experience with both Sony Vegas Pro and MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium? If so, I am interested in your take on the benefits of each.
